lead by Elsa Collins
Elsa is the founder of The Ideateur and was raised on both sides of the border (San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico), Elsa received her B.A. and Masters Degree from Stanford University as well as her J.D. from Columbia Law School. Every aspect of her work is centered and focused on service to others and justice.
Through The Ideateur, Elsa works with organizations that are on the frontlines of many social justice issues in the United States today, including increasing voter registration and participation amongst the Latinx community and other marginalized populations; protecting the undocumented; promoting racial and religious harmony and gender equality. Collaborating with these organizations, the activists, and influencers is key when one is trying to affect change. She has worked closely with Fair Count/Fair Fight, The New Georgia Project, Aliento, Aqui Se Vota, Battleground Texas, Florida Immigrant Coalition, Florida Rising, the NBA (NBA Cares), I am A Voter, Voto Latino, and Common Sense Media, among others. As a first generation Latina and college graduate, she works hard to represent her community.
Alongside The Ideateur, Elsa also co-founded This is About Humanity (THIA), an organization raising awareness and funds for separated and reunified families at the US/Mexico border and has been able to work with influencers to build a community focused on giving back. Through TIAH, Elsa has taken many influential individuals to bear witness at the US/Mexico border and beyond. TIAH most recently opened a relief kitchen where they are feeding 2000 meals a day to families and children seeking asylum. On the civic engagement front, Elsa coordinated the Suoer Mujeres trip in 2018 to Florida with Zoe Saldana, Rosario Dawson, Gina Rodriguez, Eva Longoria and America Ferrera.
She most recently co-founded Poderistas along with America Ferrera and Eva Longoria, a digital platform created to inspire and inform the Latina community and foster the engagement of Latina influencers to use their platforms to encourage civic participation in the electoral process. Over the two elections cycles, she has led the activating of over 30 Latinas to create over 70 unique pieces of content and PSAs for civic engagement.
During the 2016, 2018 and 2020 Election, Elsa coordinated GOTV campaigns with several Latinx non-partisan organizations and communities to help them phone banks, volunteers and many events encouraging and thanking them. She has traveled to Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Florida to GOTV for Democrats; helped to organize and execute events in English and Spanish for America Ferrera, Eva Longoria, Mark Consuelos, Alicia Keys and others. Additionally, she worked on coordinating content with actors, athletes and influencers to encourage voter participation. Elsa’s work to engage the Latinx influencer community to spread the message around civic engagement and the focus on Latinas in the 2020 and 2022 elections, resulted in early voting at 3x the level in 2020 compared to 2016.
Elsa has been married since 2004 to Jarron Collins, the Lead Assistant with the New Orleans Pelicans. She lives in Los Angeles raising their three multiracial children, Alessandra, Valentina, and Massimo.
